Mesa Periodontal Treatment
Most people know they should brush and floss. We all want strong, beautiful teeth, but what do you know about gum disease?
Did you know that healthy teeth are only possible if you also have healthy gums? The condition of your gums can affect the rest of your body. Gum disease is even linked to heart disease and diabetes!
We want to help our patients have completely healthy teeth and gums. That’s why we recommend two dental checkups a year with Dr. Thompson. This recommendation isn’t for our benefit. It’s for your best health. We want to protect your beautiful smile!
Even if you don’t have serious gum disease, you may have gum pain, bleeding gums, and bad breath. We can help with those too!
Do You Have Gum Disease?
You won’t know for sure if you have gum (periodontal) disease until you come in for an appointment, but here are some common signs of it:
- Bleeding gums.
- Swollen or red gums.
- Gum pain—even if mild—when you chew.
- Gum recession.
- Increasingly sensitive teeth.
- Halitosis (chronic bad breath).
You might be living with one or several of these signs and putting up with them. For your own health and safety, it’s important to get a dental exam.
The sooner you can get treated for gum disease, the easier it will be. You can get a comfortable, conservative treatment if you catch gum disease early.
How Can We Reverse Gum Disease?
Gum disease is caused by bacteria, and it’s often completely curable. When you visit us, we will:
- Closely examine your gums for symptoms of gum disease.
- Clean your gums with a process that is proven to get rid of bacteria, even in those hiding places that bacteria tend to use.
- Prescribe you antibiotics to thoroughly destroy the bacteria, if necessary.
- Show you a couple cleaning tricks to use at home.
We’ll help you with any mild or moderate gum problems or disease you have. Undergoing treatment will restore your health and boost your confidence. Also, understanding what is happening with your gums can give you a wonderful peace of mind.
If you have a more severe case of gum disease, we can explain the professional options available to reverse it and help you recover quickly.
