Sedation Dentistry
Dental anxiety shouldn’t stand in the way of a healthy smile. We offer multiple levels of sedation dentistry to help you feel calm, comfortable, and confident during your visit.
Sedation dentistry is designed to help patients relax during dental procedures, making treatments more comfortable and stress-free. Whether you experience mild anxiety or severe dental phobia, sedation options allow you to receive the care you need without fear or discomfort. We offer three levels of sedation tailored to your needs and procedure length.
Nitrous oxide (laughing gas)
Nitrous oxide is a mild sedative that helps reduce anxiety while allowing patients to remain awake and responsive. It is administered through a comfortable nasal mask, taking effect within minutes and wearing off quickly after treatment. Since nitrous oxide leaves the system rapidly, patients can drive themselves home after their appointment.
Best for:
Mild to moderate dental anxiety
Shorter procedures
Patients who want to resume normal activities immediately after treatment
Oral conscious sedation
Oral sedation involves taking a prescribed medication, such as Triazolam, about an hour before the procedure. This creates a deeper level of relaxation, often making patients feel drowsy or causing partial memory loss of the appointment. While you’ll remain awake, you’ll feel deeply relaxed, and time may seem to pass quickly. Since the effects last for several hours, patients must have a driver to and from their appointment.
Best for:
Moderate to severe dental anxiety
Longer procedures (1–3 hours)
Patients who prefer minimal memory of their treatment
IV sedation
IV sedation provides the deepest level of relaxation while still allowing you to remain conscious. Administered directly into the bloodstream, it takes effect quickly and can be adjusted throughout the procedure for optimal comfort. IV sedation is ideal for patients with severe dental anxiety, those undergoing complex treatments, or individuals with special needs. Vital signs are monitored throughout the procedure to ensure safety, and patients will need a driver to and from their appointment.
Best for:
Severe dental anxiety or past traumatic dental experiences
Complex or lengthy procedures (3–8 hours)
Patients who prefer to be deeply sedated during treatment
