Thanks to our cutting-edge digital impressions (iTero) and 3D printing (SprintRay) technology, we can create highly accurate and durable custom retainers, night guards, and sports guards—all in-house. In many cases, these can be made on the same day as your impressions. Unlike traditional alginate impressions, our digital process is more precise, less messy, and produces models that are not prone to shrinking or distortion.

What is the difference between a retainer and a night guard?

Both retainers and night guards serve to protect your teeth, but they are designed for different purposes.

  • Retainers keep teeth in their correct position, preventing shifting and crowding. Even patients who have completed Invisalign or braces need retainers to maintain their results. Our retainers are clear, custom-fit, and extend to the gumline for a secure and comfortable fit. They also offer mild protection against clenching and grinding and can shield teeth from acid exposure in patients with nighttime acid reflux.

  • Night guards are specifically designed to protect teeth from damage caused by clenching and grinding (bruxism). Unlike retainers, they are thicker and typically cover only the upper or lower teeth, preventing direct contact and reducing wear, cracks, and sensitivity. Night guards can also help alleviate TMJ discomfort and headaches caused by jaw tension.

  • Sports guards provide impact protection for athletes or individuals involved in high-contact activities. They are made from a softer, more shock-absorbent material that cushions the teeth and reduces the risk of trauma.
